Goose, evolving the annual tradition into a sprawling multi-sensory narrative titled "Show Upon Time". Moving beyond traditional production, the creative team, led by Goose’s Creative Director Will Thresher, META’s Justin Bolognino as Experience Director, and Rüts as Creative Producer, treated Providence’s Amica Mutual Pavilion as a living canvas for world-building, weaving the band’s improvisational language into signature "sonic immersions". The result was a theatrical environment where music didn't just play to the audience—it lived among them through a "Phantom Menagerie" of oversized animal puppets and surrealist performers.
The experience was anchored in a conceptual "North Star" narrative set in a dark, eternal carnival from 1734. By blending Andrew Goedde’s lighting with physical theater, Bolognino and META integrated elements like the "Eye of the Deep"—a massive, projection-mapped sphere—and a "Curio Cabinet" that transformed the arena floor into a participatory installation. This narrative approach reached its peak in moments of stark, intimate staging, such as a single lamp being extinguished in a darkened arena to conclude Night One, successfully shrinking the massive room into a private, human connection, leaving Rick Mitarotondo solo on stage, with a giant full moon behind him, and not a dry eye in the arena. The two shows were designed as a palindrome, as night two began where the first night left up, starting with Rick. A group of magical and mysterious female sirens emerged, flanking Rick and the band in a stunning choral rendition of Goose’s melodic anthem “Give it Time.” The show grew wilder and wilder, climaxing with an electronic DJ dance party led by bass player Trevor Weekz’s “DJ Marb Menthols” Fun House themed explosion of character performance, lighting, and music.
Ultimately, Goosemas 2025 served as a masterclass in the Art of Being There. By fusing music, technology, and deep folklore, META elevated the performance from a sequence of songs into a cohesive cultural event. The collaboration humanized the scale of the arena, positioning Goose not just as a band, but as the architects of an expansive, ever-evolving creative ecosystem.
